Wooden frame, marble tesserae hand-cut with the ancient tools, the hammer and the cutter.

The mosaic is perfectly grouted and has been smoothed by hand.

The work represents a detail of the splendid polychrome floor mosaic of the Villa Romana del Casale, Piazza Armerina, Sicily, an ancient Roman residential building dating back to the 4th century AD., discovered in 1950 and since 1997 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
