Handmade by Koko Mosaico, direct technique on cement mortar.

Wooden frame painted with acrylics, cement mortar, gold, and precious smalti, all cut by hand using the ancient tools of the trade, the hammer and the chisel.

The gold tesserae and smalti come from the Orsoni Furnace, the last historical furnace in Venice that has been using the same methods since 1888 to produce 24K gold leaf mosaics, colored gold, and Venetian smalti.

The artwork represents one of the many stars of the immense and beautiful starry sky depicted in the dome of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Ravenna.
