About

Surrounded by Ravenna's rich cultural heritage (UNESCO lists eight of Ravenna's early Christian monuments as World Heritage Sites), Koko Mosaico continues to explore the language of mosaic yet never loses sight of past traditions. The studio is like an atelier from times past where one can buy and/or commission mosaics.

Team

The team is made up of Arianna Gallo, Luca Barberini and the assistants Ivana Divković, Anita Pilotti and Dalia Elrashidy.

Arianna Gallo

Founder, Master Mosaicist, and Creative Director of Koko Mosaico

I was born near Ravenna on September 2, 1976. I graduated from the Mosaic Institute of Art Gino Severini in 1995 and later specialized in restoration at the School of Mosaic Restoration (Soprintendenza of Cultural Heritage of Ravenna) in 1999. Before founding my studio in 2005 with my husband, I worked on significant restoration projects, including the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, and the replica of the Alexander Mosaic for Pompeii. These experiences deepened my love for ancient mosaics, particularly micromosaics, which I still create and teach in my studio today. I founded Koko Mosaico to have the freedom to create and express myself. I like to think of it as an open, light-filled, and international space—a workshop where ideas take form and become reality. As the Creative Director, I oversee commissions, artistic collaborations, and the teaching of mosaic techniques. I love my work. As an artist, my piece Lens, a distinctive symbol of my style, was acquired by the Museum of Art of the City of Ravenna (MAR) and is now part of its permanent collection of contemporary mosaics.

Visual Artist – Founder of Koko Mosaico

I was born in Ravenna in 1981 and graduated from the Istituto Statale d'Arte Gino Severini in Ravenna in 2000.

After gaining hands-on experience, I founded Koko Mosaico together with Arianna Gallo, creating a space where I could develop my artistic journey, continuously pushing the boundaries of mosaic technique and transforming it into a personal and contemporary language.

A manifesto of my style, Folla was acquired in 2011 by the Museum of Art of the City of Ravenna, where it is now part of the permanent collection.

Over the years, I have presented my work in group and solo exhibitions in national and international contexts.

My atelier is located inside Koko Mosaico.

My works are available for viewing and purchase in the studio’s gallery.
