Handmade by Koko Mosaico, direct technique on lime.

Wooden base, cement mortar, a mix of golds, and tesserae of fine smalti hand-cut with the ancient tools: the hammer and the hardie.

Finished with cement mortar and marble dust.

Smalti are from Fornace Orsoni, the last historic furnace in Venice, which has been using the same methods since 1888 to produce mosaics with 24K gold leaf, colored gold, and Venetian enamels.

This mosaic is inspired by a mosaic detail from the Archiepiscopal Chapel, Ravenna, 5th century A.D.
