Handcrafted by Koko Mosaico using the direct technique on cement mortar.

The wooden frame has been painted with acrylics; inside, there is cement mortar, gold tesserae, and precious smalti, hand-cut with the ancient tools of the trade: hammer and hardie.

The smalti and gold tesserae come from the Orsoni Furnace, the last historic furnace in Venice that has been using the same methods since 1888 to produce 24K gold leaf mosaics, colored gold, and Venetian smalti.

The artwork represents one of the many flowers in this particular sky depicted in one of the barrel vaults of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Ravenna.
